Long Haul Paddlin’!

Ardie Olson, who we know from this year’s Tour Divide, just finished a 631 mile paddle of the Alabama Scenic River Trail. He is the first person to solo paddle the entire route, lending publicity to it. Though he was not racing, he covered about 50 miles a day in his kayak.

Read about it here.

Ardie used his SPOT unit for his paddling excursion, which you can follow on his personal SPOT page.

We know Ardie, and his wife Sherry, from the Tour Divide this year. When Ardie, Mary, and all the other racers left I got to know Sherry through her role as the Tour Divide Transcriptionist and as a fellow Tour Divide Spouse. Ardie caused quite a stir with some blistering fast and long days on the bike, taking second and completing the entire Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in 21 days. You can read his race call-ins here.
